I have been planning a career as an accountant since I was a young girl. That is actually an influence of my mom’s position. Because she is a certified public accountant in China, and at that time I adored her working condition so much. I considered accounting is a so magical work that almost every part of a company needs it. And that kind of original impression indeed have effects on my own career decision later.

Although I didn’t enroll in accounting major in undergraduate school, I could fortunately have access to some accounting related courses instead such as Accounting Principles, Computerization Accounting, Business Accounting during undergraduate and so on. To my surprise, I became interested in these classes and got high scores. From these courses, I mastered the basic theory and methods of accounting, the use of accounting software and the way to check and supervise funds of a company. In addition, I took part in the accounting simulation training in the university and finished the entire process of bookkeeping on my own. In spite of lacking the experience of full time employment, I attended an accounting-related internship which is particular essential for me in making the decision to change my major. From 2012 to 2014, I had my internships as an assistant cashier in Shandong Sanjian Real Estate Group Co., LTD during summer vacations, from which I mastered practical skills of accounting. During the internship, I could adapt to the work environment as a quick learner and get on well with my colleagues

When I was in college, I balance the progress of study and the development of personality very well. As a result, I acquired the Merit-based Scholarship of our school twice. And at the same time, I take charge of the Head of the Art Troupe of our university for one year and take an active part in various extracurricular activities. And now I have completed my pathway program and had good performance in it. The MSA program will allow me achieve my career goal of becoming a professional accountant.

During the pathway stage, I learn a lot concerning how to study and live in graduate school. These include the obvious and potential rules in graduate school, the professors’ expectations for students, the necessary skills for academic writing, the effective method about better communicating with others as an international student and so on. All of these has prepared me ready for entering the MSA program.

As we all know, Mason has an excellent business school which ranked sixty-second among business schools across the United States. This is the most attractive perspective for me for it means I can receive high-quality education from it. In addition, George Mason University locates in Fairfax which is a pretty beautiful city with comfortable climate. And it also near Washington, D. C. which is the center of politics of America, so that I can easily find internship opportunities in the future. I would like to apply for your MS in accounting program in the fall 2016 in your university.

Considering my strength and experience, I would like to apply for the MS Accounting program from the business school in the fall 2016. Firstly, the discipline of mine is marketing at undergraduate school. In fact, it actually has something in common with accounting. Marketing is about communicating the value of a product or service to customers, while accounting, called the “language of business”, measures the results of an organization’s economic activities and conveys this information to a variety of users. With the marketing background, I can better understand the corporates’ operating process which can ensure accounting works are went smoothly. On the other hand, with the accounting professional knowledge, I would comprehend how to efficiently run a company in order to obtain the most possible profit. As a result, multidisciplinary study would let me grow up to a well-rounded managerial professional. Secondly, two different majors would enrich my mind, enhance my critical thinking and provide me comprehensive abilities in order to better deal with complicated accounting issues. Last but not least, my experience of being the head of the Art Troupe during the undergraduate stage developed my strength to get along well with others, so that if I can enter your program, I can easily interact with my group members which from my perspective is a really essential ability for graduate study and even for future accounting career.

Upon the completion of my Master’s degree in your university, I will enrich my life experience, put my expertise into practice and be well prepared for future jobs. CPA certificate is at the top of the list which as we all know is a stepping-stone to success in accounting discipline. After an in-depth survey, I plan to engage in the prospective industry of accounting for several years. In the long run, I would like to come back to China and make a contribution to the accounting industry in China. If possible, working in one of the four big banks (The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China and China Construction Bank) is the best choice in the future.
